Our two night stay at this hotel was the perfect culmination of out Netherland cruise. It allowed us to explore Amsterdam a little more and rest up nicely for the long flight home. would highly recommend this place.
The people were always friendly and willing to help with any questions from directions to recommendations for eating. overall, very nice experience!

We stayed at the Amstel over a long weekend and were so very impressed with the hotel, its amenities, ambience and services. All the staff were efficient, welcoming, friendly and very helpful. Our suite was lovely with great views over the river Amstel and the bed was extremely comfortable. Aad, the head concierge and members of his team, Peter and Duncan were kind and generous from our original booking and throughout our stay. All staff were very attentive and helpful, especially Albert in the bar and Andrew in the brasserie. It had a very calm and relaxing atmosphere making it one of the best hotels we have stayed in.

One night stop, first visit to this hotel. From the outside, you can sense the hotel needs attention and seems without management and attention to detail. Dirty rugs, dirty doors, run down furniture everywhere. Its a small hotel yes, 79 rooms, but it feels understaff everywhere also. In the lobby, bar or restaurants, you have to wait, wait and wait for service. Once you get it, they are attentive and take care of you, but its like fishing for this service. You don't know when you will get it. Its very expensive for what you get, again, the entire facility needs an upgrade and needs a proper management. Im most surprise at the bad condition of this intercontinental.
