LOCAL CULTURE

Tipping

Tipping is not a traditional Korean custom; however, a 10 percent service charge is added to bills at all tourist hotels and tipping is not expected. It's never necessary to tip a taxi driver unless he assists you with your luggage or takes you to or from the airport.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service and attractive location in the heart of Gangnam The hotel staff was superb as demonstrated by their level of service and attentiveness. They were willing to answer any pertinent questions about the facilities and hotel amenities without seeming too bothered about it. The in room dining was great but I would not recommend it for its steep price. But I guess if you go hungry in the middle of night, I guess it is either the room service or a quick run to the local 7-Eleven for instant ramen. Being too exhausted to put my shoes on and walk over, I settled for a nice, relaxed in room dining of seafood pizza (35,000 krw). Unlike its sister property on the other side of the COEX complex, this property offers nice view of its surrounding areas regardless of which side of the hotel you stay in. The optional pillows (about 10 pillows to choose from) are great amenities as you can really have a relaxing, heavenly sleep. The entire facility was immaculately maintained and overall has great presence. There are a couple of gripes about my hotel stay. First of all, the sound insulation was not adequately especially for rooms located close to the elevator, as the noise from it was disturbing my sleep slightly during the night. With this being an IC, I expected a modern bathroom fixture because it is beginning to show its age and wear 27 July 2014
    Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 床铺舒适。环境不错。 酒店位置不错,出行非常方便。服务生帮助我们叫出租车非常贴心,了解清楚目的地后与司机沟通好并给了我们地图。房间非常安静,睡眠很舒适。大堂布置很不错,很有特色。 17 July 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Total excellence with a dining let-down My recent stay at the InterContinental Seoul Coex was nearly flawless, and I don't say that lightly. The service was sublime, the room sumptuous, and the spa, well, the height of luxury. I am a businessman who resides in Seoul and stayed at the hotel for a weekend of leisure. I was so impressed with the health club I intend on buying a private membership. My girlfriend was likewise totally impressed with the scope and quality of services provided. The one black mark, and a significant one, was the Sky Lounge Restaurant...I think it is called itself the Veneto now. The bill for two exceeded $300, but the quality was, being generous, worth $40. Frankly I was shocked. I've had better Italian meals (by orders of magnitude) in Seoul for half the price--Sky Lounge Restaurant served 1-star food at 5-star prices. The desserts were unpolished, I could have bough better from a convenience store. Dreadful experience. The service was okay as well, but just. On the upside, the lounge bar nearby the lobby was superb and drinks fantastic. So I encourage all visitors for business or pleasure to explore this astounding delight of a hotel...but please, avoid the Sky Lounge Restaurant like the pest. Completely overpriced and, much worse, totally, and I mean totally, underwhelming. 16 July 2014
