The Prado houses one of the finest collections of art in the world, with extraordinary works by Velazquez, Goya and El Greco. The Reina Sofia is home to Picasso’s Guernica as well as a comprehensive selection of art from the 19th to the 21st century. The Thyssen Museum has pieces dating from the Gothic and Renaissance periods right through to works by Van Gogh and Bacon.
